What a Great Beginning!

Wow! It’s already 2019! We are already NINETEEN YEARS into a new millennium! My how time flies!

In 2018, a group of family members and a few friends decided that they indeed wanted to start a new quilting guild in Central Indiana and the Akoma Ntoso Modern Quilt Guild of Central Indiana was born! April 7, 2018 is our anniversary date to be exact! Ask Ciaran! He finally has that anniversary date memorized! LOL

Besides being featured in the Indianapolis Recorder Indianapolis Recorder there were quite a few other notable events for our little guild in 2018. Below is just a record of what we have accomplished thus far:
-Fourteen (14) Paid Memberships for 2018
-Groovy Newbies Bee (2 Saturdays Per Month @ Joann Fabrics)
-Feature in the Indianapolis Recorder: July 19, 2018
-Teal Mini Quilt Swap for OCRFA (7/30)
-Akoma Ntoso Guild Meetings (4th Sun at the Ransburg YMCA)
-President showed 2 quilts in 2 national arenas (NAAQC and Brown v Board of Topeka Museum)
-One (1) guest speaker for Learning Corner (Mrs. Erika Manningham-Nickens)
-YMCA Mini Quilt Sale: 12 quilts completed; 5 sold;$215 donation to YMCA
-Mug Rug ‘Secret Santa’ Member Exchange

-Mug Rug Secret Santa Brunch and Exchange

What a great beginning to our marvelous little guild! What marvelous plans we have to grow and impact not only our members, but our immediate community and beyond. We should be very proud of what we have created. Yay us!
