2026 Raffle Quilt in Honor of Dr. Anna Bee Brown

The 2026 raffle quilt will benefit the Akoma Ntoso’s educational, charity, and community programming this year. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. It will also be made in honor of our own Dr. Anna Bee Brown (November 9, 1952 – June 16, 2024).  She was born in Nitta Yuma Mississippi to the parents Roosevelt and Anna James. Anna gave her life to Christ and was baptized at a young age. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School; she
received a doctrine degree in Theology from to the Metropolitan College of Theology in Village, Florida in
2022.

Anna was a faithful member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on several Auxiliaries. She was Union District Association Nurse President for 8 years. She was an advisor for 12 years for the next 2 presidents who served the Union District and she was
also the recipient of the Grundy Award. Anna also served as Secretary for General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Indiana Inc. Nurse Department.  She was a Sunday School teacher for several years. Anna Bee Brown worked at the Women’s State Prison for 35 years, 

Anna was a founding member of Akoma Ntoso Modern Quilt Guild in 2018. Her love of quilting was punctuated by her love of bright and beautiful colors which included flowers. Her last quilt exhibited was a “Flower Garden” and this guild quilt is made in her honor.
